SOUTH AFRICAN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

This Special Report for the PAIA Unit of the South African Human Rights Commission ('SAHRC') details (i) LASA's (primarily Chief Legal Executive Patrick Hundermark's) persistent, corrupt, illegal and unconstitutional refusal of repeated requests for access to its public records, duly made under section 18 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 ('PAIA') between 2010 and 2016, to hide (further) documentary evidence of top-level corruption at LASA, and (ii) LASA's repeated false annual reporting under section 32 to the SAHRC, and false special reporting to the Justice Minister and then to the Justice Portfolio Committee, to conceal its top officers' contemptuous disregard for LASA's constitutional information transparency obligations imposed by section 32(1)(a) of the Bill of Rights, to evade being held to account for it.

The SAHRC's utterly useless PAIA Unit failed to respond, failed to excercise its powers under section 83 of PAIA to remedy these serious illegalities, thereby letting LASA get away with them all.
